Born and raised in the Napa Valley of California and educated in San Francisco in the late '60s, I relocated to Chapel Hill in 1989 and have put down roots in the red clay of the Piedmont.  Prior to my move here I worked as a midwife, living on a blueberry farm near the Columbia River in Oregon.

A passionate traveler, I have explored much of Central and South America. Learning a new language and exploring ancient and modern cultures inspires me, stretching the imagination and an appetite for more adventure.

 My life in Chapel Hill has included working for non profits that advocate for the Latino community and the environment. Currently I am exploring the realm of the artist/sculptor and have recently built a clay studio on 10 acres of land on the banks of the Haw River in Chatham County.
